Senior VAT Specialist

In Hungary, KOSTAL is about to build its first business service centre to provide business support in IT, finance, procurement, master data, sales and HR fields. This will be a global centre with high value-added and complex processes.

Overall Purpose of Job:
This role helps the KOSTAL European VAT organization to oversee and manage opportunities to improve tax compliance processes. As experienced professional help the team lead in the journey of accomplish strategical initiatives in EAME countries for the benefit of achieving effective and efficient process in the given area. Help junior colleagues to grow in their role, and supervise their performance, delivered products.
Main tasks, roles and responsibilities:
- Ensure timely filings of periodic complex returns for VAT, ESL for EU jurisdictions.
- Review the recurring balance sheet reconciliations for the VAT GL accounts. Identify major discrepancies and resolve.
- Support/lead VAT audits as they occur in the European countries.
- Assist the VAT manager with in-house VAT advisory activities.
- Support VAT related real time reporting requirements and SAP implementation (S4 roll-out)
- Add value to the VAT team by making recommendations on process improvements, standardization and simplifications and participate in connected strategic projects
- Actively add value to the team by making Continuous improvement recommendations and execute ideas to create efficiencies
- Support the VAT compliance transition from local sites and the expansion of the team
- Mentor junior colleagues
- Keep up to date with regulations in the area of Indirect tax
- Raise tax awareness of Finance, Operations and Commercial Teams, controllers and local business partners about VAT queries, developments
Qualifications
Experiences and requirements:
- Bachelor or Master degree in Accounting or Tax and/or professional qualification
- Minimum 5-8 years experience on VAT preparation and reconciliation
- Strong knowledge of Indirect Tax in EMEA or some of its jurisdictions
- Strong analytical skills
- Able to meet the deadlines, and lead junior colleagues to support the timely delivery
- Able to work flexible in an ever-changing work environment
- Proven track record of identifying and remediating problems and solving issues.
- Experienced user of Excel
- Experience in SAP FI Module
- Experience in process automation
- Fluent in oral and written English
